Alan Rogers Review
On a headland jutting into the Trondheimfjord, some 40 km. from Trondheim, Tråsåvika commands an attractive position. For many, this compensates for the extra distance into town.
The 30 touring pitches with fjord views (some slightly sloping), all with electricity connections (10/16A), are on an open grassy field at the top of the site or on a series of terraces below. These run down to the small sandy beach, easily accessed via a well-designed gravel service road. To one side, on a wooded bluff at the top of the site, are 19 cabins (open all year), many in the traditional style. The smart reception complex also houses a small shop, a licensed café, a lounge area, and a terrace overlooking the entire panorama.
There are opportunities for boating and fishing from the beach on the site. The local River Orkla is also one of Norway's most famous salmon rivers.
A visit to the historic city of Trondheim (40 km), once the capital of Norway, offers a multitude of attractions, especially the beautiful medieval cathedral.
The fully equipped sanitary unit feels a little dated with warm showers available (on payment). Water for touring pitches is also accessed from this block. Hot water (on payment) in kitchen and laundry. Shop. Café (sells beer, wine and food (seasonal) TV/sitting room. Small children's play ara. Jetty and boat hire. Free fjord fishing with catches of good-sized cod from the shore. Free WiFi on touring pitches.
Site is west of Viggja with direct access from E39 between Orkanger and Buvik, 21 km. from E6 and 40 km. west of Trondheim. Use Børsa exit from Trondheim direction off E39 to save toll charges if using Orkanger exit (6 km. detour).Link to campsite location map on google
