Alan Rogers Review

The Old Oaks, an adults only park, is tucked below the Glastonbury Tor in a lovely secluded setting with views across to the Mendips. The grounds are immaculate with a great deal of attention to cleanliness throughout. In total there are 100 large pitches in a series of paddocks, 91 with 16A electricity, on hardstandings and 50 are fully serviced. Mainly backing on to hedges, they are attractively arranged and interspersed with shrubs and flowers in a circular development or terraced with rural views. There is a quiet orchard area for camping and six camping cabins provide a luxurious alternative to tents, but retain that ‘outdoor feel’. A member of the Best of British group.

Mature trees and hedging combine with the mellow farm buildings to give a sense of timelessness, tranquillity and peace. Whether you fish or not, the pond which is well stocked with carp, roach and tench is worth a visit not only for its view of the Tor, but also to see the ducks and the chickens on your way. There is parking for disabled visitors within 25 yards of the pond. In an area steeped in history and legend, this is a very well equipped and maintained park which should meet the needs of the discerning camper or caravanner.
