Alan Rogers Review
Camping Om de Noord is located on the island of Texel, 900 m. from a sandy dune beach and is a friendly, family site within walking distance of the lively village of De Koog. There are 147 level, grassy touring pitches (average 100 sq.m) all equipped with electricity, water and drainage. Thirty-six comfort plus pitches have their own private sanitation facilities. This is a lively site for children in peak season with many games and activities organised for them.
Texel is the largest and westernmost Frisian island and is easily accessed by ferry from Den Helder (booking recommended in high season). The island is arguably best explored by bicycle and has an excellent network of cycle tracks, but there is also a good bus service. The island is an ornithologists’ paradise, with a large nature reserve covering a third of the island. Texel has an interesting history and played an important role in a number of Anglo-Dutch battles, including the Battle of Scheveningen in 1653.
Modern and clean toilet block with family rooms. Facilities for disabled campers. Dishwasher. Launderette. Play area (up to 12 yrs). Activity and entertainment programme for children (high season). WiFi (charged). Texel parking scheme: annual vignette € 15 or € 2.50/h.
