Alan Rogers Review
This Swiss Touring Club site is particularly suited to families with children. From the terrace of the self-service restaurant and shop there is a view of the small swimming pool and the large grass area that leads to the gently shelving waters of the lake and a small wooden jetty. The site has 860 pitches (140 for touring units) making it very popular and busy, especially at weekends and holidays. The touring pitches are divided into three sections; one with large service facilities, an open grass area and another among the pine trees with little grass. This site is run in an environmentally sensitive manner and is located in a protected nature area, a habitat for beavers, wild boar and foxes.
There are over 200 species of birds in the area and the woodpeckers can be quite noisy in the mornings! From the site there are walks through the nature reserve, cycle tracks for excursions and old towns, like Erlach, to visit. The site has its own harbour from which boats can be launched and where canoes and paddle boats can be rented. The restuarant offer a good-value menu. Recently added are two-berth pods for hikers and cyclists with little baggage.
Three modern, well maintained toilet blocks with free showers and some washbasins in cabins. Facilities for disabled visitors. Baby room. Laundry room with washing machines and dryers. Motorhome services. Modern, well appointed self-service restaurant with takeaway. Shop. Gas supplies. Internet access. Play area. Bicycle hire. Archery. Fishing and boat launching. Canoes and paddle boats for hire. Two-birth camping pods to rent. WiFi throughout (free).
Site is on the northeast shore of Lake Neuchâtel. From A1 exit 29 (Murten) or exit 30 (Kerzers) travel north towards Neuchâtel as far as village of Gampelen where site is well signed. Look for TCS signs.Link to campsite location map on google
