Alan Rogers Review
This is a restful little site with a welcoming atmosphere. It is set well back from the main road, so there is no road noise. The site overlooks the tidal marshes of the Altafjord, which are home to a wide variety of birdlife, providing ornithologists with a grandstand view during the long summer evenings bathed by the Midnight Sun. The 40 pitches are on undulating grass amongst pine trees and shrubs, and are not marked, although there are 16 electricity hook-ups (16A). The site is run by a church mission organisation. All facilities are brand new.
Out of season, the site provides holidays for needy children and carers. Places of interest in the area are Alta Museum with its ancient rock carvings, and the Savco Canyon, the largest in Europe, with the controversial Alta Power Station and 100 m. dam at its upper end.
New block with reception and sanitary facilities with underfloor heating, washbasins in cubicles, showers and a family room. Facilities for disabled visitors. Sauna. New kitchen with cooker, sinks and dining area. Washing machine and dryer. Large TV room. Football field. Play area. WiFi (free).
