Solitudo is located on the north side of Dubrovnik. There are 21 mobile homes, 17 cabins and 300 pitches for touring units, all with 10-16A electricity and 30 with water, arranged on four large fields that are opened according to demand. Field A is mainly used for tents, and pitches here are small. Field D has pitches of up to 120m sq and takes many motorhomes (long leads required) from some pitches here. There are beautiful views of the mountains and the impressive Dr Franjo Tudman Bridge.

Access around field D can be awkward for larger units, due to tight bends and trees, so many drivers go the wrong way on some stretches of the one-way system, trying to avoid this. To gain access to the two sanitary blocks and Reception from field D there is a flight of over 30 steps to climb without the aid of handrails. To avoid the steps, you effectively leave the site and travel up the road for 100m, where access can be achieved via one short ramp.

Most pitches are numbered, some are on terraces, and a variety of mature trees shade most. The ground is hard and stony (firm tent pegs needed). There is a shop for essentials plus the affiliated hotel complex 1 km down the road, which provides pools, bars, restaurants, tennis courts, sports fields and a shopping centre. The small public beach is just slightly further down the road.

The location is excellent, just a few kilometres from the historic old town of Dubrovnik, which is accessible by bus, a 10-minute walk from the site, making it an ideal base for both sightseeing and relaxing.

The site is divided by a public road which leads down to the Hotel complex and beach. No security barriers exist to control access to the camping fields. Although there is a Security person patrolling day and night, backed up by CCTV coverage around some buildings. The Reception Area was often “very” busy, but the staff were helpful and courteous.

The restaurant provides a relatively limited menu, but the quality and service were very good. They have decided to move it away from the usual campsite fare and Take Away, which seems to have been a success.

Two attractively decorated, clean and modern sanitary blocks have British-style toilets, open washbasins and controllable, hot showers. Accessible sanitary facilities. Laundry. Motorhome services. Shop. Attached restaurant/bar. Tennis. Minigolf. Fishing. Bicycle hire. Beach with pedalo, beach chair, kayak and jet ski hire. Excursions organised to the Elafiti Islands. WiFi (free).

Location

From Split follow no. 8 road south towards Dubrovnik. Site is very well signed, starting 110 km. before reaching Dubrovnik, and throughout the city.
