Alan Rogers Review

The River Dart Country Park offers a great range of adventure experiences suitable for campers of all ages. Also open to the public, it does become busy at weekends and during school holidays so booking is essential. The camping and caravanning area is in open parkland overlooking the woods and is mainly on a slight slope with some shade from mature trees. There are 261 individual pitches of a reasonable size and in different locations, some of which are slightly sloping. There are 136 pitches with electrical connections (10/16A) and 35 with hardstanding.

Once part of a Victorian estate with mature woodland on the edge of Dartmoor in the beautiful Dart valley, the park features a variety of unusual adventure play equipment (e.g. a giant spider’s web) arranged amongst and below the trees, Lilliput Land for toddlers, Jungle Fun, woodland streams and a lake with a pirate ship for swimming, and inflatables, fly fishing and marked nature and forest trails – all free to campers except fishing. There is a Commando assault course, Dare Devil activities (high ropes course across the river, water zorbs, mega zip wire, fee payable) and falconry displays, which are organised in high season (Thursdays).
