Alan Rogers Review

This delightful and sheltered park is set a mile back from the pretty seaside village of Porthtowan, a haven for surfers but enjoyed by families who can explore the rock pools and coves. The beach has Blue Flag status. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, tall chimney stacks, stark against the sky, remain a reminder of the tin mining for which this area of Cornwall was once renowned. This is now a peaceful spot with plenty of space on the park and tall trees surrounding the three camping fields. There are 72 pitches around the edges of the fields, on level grass, all with 10A electricity. There are three hardstandings.

The park is attractively laid out with tarmac roads and flowering shrubs. The facilities were spotless when we visited in high season. There is a recycling box for odds and ends left behind by holidaymakers but of potential use to future visitors. A large adventure type play area in the centre of the large top field is popular. There is a waiting list for seasonal pitches and caravan storage. The Coast to Coast Tramway trail passes within half a mile of the site. The Newquay-Saint Ives bus stops at the site entrance.
