Alan Rogers Review

Port Ban is in a fairly remote location on the peaceful coastline of the Knapdale Peninsula. Access to the site is via 15 miles of single track road with passing places. However, once you have arrived, you will appreciate the very tranquil setting, spectacular sunsets over Islay and Jura and the amazing variety of wildlife found here. There are just six pitches for touring units, four of which are on level grass with 10A electricity and direct frontage to a small beach. A camping field provides a further 30 pitches which are well marked out for tents and electricity is available for 26 of these. The main part of the site is occupied by caravan holiday homes, 20 of which are available for hire.

The site itself is self-contained with a high level of recreational facilities. Social events are organised in the summer months. Although a good distance from any major town, there is a restaurant within one mile.

Two sanitary blocks, one is older in style and one, situated in the camping field, is modern with well equipped facilities also for disabled visitors Laundry facilities. Shop (1/4-31/10). Café (with flexible opening depending on demand). Games room. Games field with football nets. Volleyball court. Tennis. Crazy golf and putting green. Bowling green. Play park. Beach suitable for launching small boats. Sea fishing. Bicycle hire. WiFi throughout.
