Alan Rogers Review
Pear Tree is a neat, landscaped and well cared for park, set in 7.5 acres with mature trees and views across to Wareham Forest. There are 155 pitches in total, of which 87 are for touring units with hardstanding, 10A electricity, water and drainage. Only breathable groundsheets are permitted for awnings. The tent area is a tranquil, secluded spot with many mature trees. Reception, incorporating tourist information and a small shop supplying milk, bread, gas and other basics, is at the park entrance. The park is well situated for visiting Poole, Corfe Castle, Swanage and the Purbecks.
The gates (with key) are closed at dusk, although latecomers are admitted. A large, hedged, separate playing field is at the top of the park with swings, climbing frame, trampolines and ball games area, all for younger children. A bus service stops outside for Wareham (2.5 miles) and Poole (5 miles). There is a walk from the back of the park into Wareham Forest. The Tower Water complex in Poole is a great attraction for teenagers.
The main heated toilet block (opened by key and recently refurbished) provides some washbasins in cubicles, baby changing unit, two new family rooms with Belfast sink, baby bath and a wet room for disabled visitors. Laundry. Separate small prefabricated unit near the tent area. All is kept spotlessly clean. Shop (basics only). Play area with range of equipment. All-year caravan storage.
LocationFrom the A351 (Wareham-Poole) road, turn west at traffic lights in Holton Heath (signed Organford and Sandford Park). Park is on left after 550 yds. past Sandford Park and the Clay Pipe Inn. Link to campsite location map on google
