Alan Rogers Review
Camping Park de Vuurtoren (lighthouse in Flemish) is close to Knokke-Heist and extends over six hectares. The site is just 1200 m. from a broad, sandy, North Sea beach, accessed through an attractive park. There are 350 pitches here, but just 11 for touring. These are of a good size (80-100 sq.m), all with 16A electricity, and are equipped with cable TV connections. Water supply points are rather basic. A number of comfortable chalets are available to rent. There is a playground for children, and other amenities include a bar with TV and billiards, and a café serving snacks and ice creams.
Nearby an historic tram line (established in 1885) which runs along much of the Belgian coastline as far as De Panne, near the French border. Blankenberge is a popular resort with an excellent Sea Life Centre. The superb medieval city of Bruges is close at hand and is a ‘must see’, with a great wealth of museums and beautiful canals and streets. The nearest town is Heist (around 500 m) which has a good range of shops and restaurants.
One traditional sanitary block is clean and has card-operated showers and a toilet for disabled visitors. Laundry facilities. Bar with billiards. Café serving snacks and ice-creams. Play area. WiFi over part of site (charged). Mobile homes and chalets to rent.
