Alan Rogers Review
Paleokastritsa is a popular holiday resort on Corfu and is definitely one of the most scenic spots on the island. The resort has several beaches and coves, from large sandy beaches to small secluded bays – something for everyone. There is a small harbour/marina 2 km. from the campsite where it is possible to berth your boat. The coastline in the area is ideal for sailing and the sea is excellent for snorkelling and diving with the spectacular underwater rock formations. For those looking for a camping experience under the shade of olive trees, this is the perfect spot. Apart from the basics, and the friendliness of the family who owns it, it has nothing to offer but that is one of its charms.
One of the few signs in English said ‘Don’t throw away your old bread – we can give it to the chickens’ and that gives an indication of the owner’s attitude. Shops, bars and restaurants are all within walking distance and the road from Corfu town, 19 km. away, is good and avoids the island’s infamous narrow, steep zigzags.
Facilities
Two clean toilet blocks include showers (hot water), WCs, washbasins, razor and hairdryer points and sinks for laundry. Separate covered kitchen area. Indoor cooking area (facilities not supplied) and indoor dining area. Charcoal barbecue only.
Location
It could not be easier to find this site. As you enter Paleokastritsa it is on the right just as the built up area begins and is well sign posted.
