Alan Rogers Review

Packhorse Farm prides itself in being an environmentally aware site: the lights in the toilet block are on sensors and all wastewater is processed naturally by a reed bed. All taps are push button types, except for the disabled bathroom and baby changing area. Throughout the site, you will see that the owners keep close to nature. They have a small nature area with a stream running through which is allowed to grow wild to attract small invertebrates – you will see a variety of local species of butterflies, birds and insects throughout the year. Rubbish is collected daily at several points around the site and is collected by a local recycling firm who have a zero to landfill policy. The site has 52 grass pitches all with electric hook-up 16 amp and 2 glamping pods.

Places of interest close by include:-

Chatsworth House, a spectacular house with fantastic views and an extensive country park. Haddon Hall, this medieval home, with its many beautiful tapestries & gardens, has a unique atmosphere which allows you to experience life in that era. Crich Tramway Museum, step back in time, relive your youth or indulge in your hobbies with unlimited tram rides, varied exhibitions and themed days. Gulliver's Kingdom, a fantastic theme park aimed at children aged 3-13, all the rides are suitable for young families. Speedwell & Peak Cavern in Castleton is an underground journey by boat, while Peak Cavern is the largest natural cave entrance in the British Isles. Treak Cliff Cavern, originally a Blue John mine 300 years ago, continues to mine and manufacture ornaments and jewellery. Masson Mills, is a working textile museum and shopping centre.
