Alan Rogers Review

Situated just off the A1 north of Newark, Milestone has a good deal more to offer than simply a stopover option. Its 76 level touring pitches all have 16A electricity and nearby water points. Grass pitches are available, but most are all-weather in a variety of locations. Six are outside the security barrier for those in transit (although key access is always available), then comes a pleasantly landscaped area and finally terraces overlooking an attractive fishing lake. An embankment built to muffle traffic noise provides a pleasant grassed walk with views across an adjoining lake and the surrounding countryside. This is a Caravan Club affiliated site.

The site is convenient for Newark’s Antiques Fairs and showground events and the historic town has a 12th century castle, an Air Museum, two other museums and an art gallery, as well as three markets a week. Southwell with its Minster and its racecourse is only 10 miles away, while Lincoln, Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park and Nottingham are not much further.

Two heated toilet blocks provide pushbutton showers and open-style washbasins (may be under pressure at busy times). Excellent en-suite facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities. Motorcaravan services. Comprehensive tourist information, guides and children’s quiz sheets on the site’s wildlife. Fishing (charged). Lakeside cabin with nature and fishing displays). WiFi throughout (charged).
