Alan Rogers Review

Lowtrow Cross is a small, adults only park situated just inside Exmoor National Park and is ideal for owners of well behaved dogs. It is quietly located on a hillside giving lovely views north towards the Brendon Hills. There are 28 mixed pitches, four occupied by caravan holiday homes (two for hire) and six seasonal, and all the remaining touring pitches are hardstanding with grass surround, with 16A electricity and TV socket. An adjacent meadow with stunning views over the rolling countryside can be used for tents. Although there is no bar or restaurant on site there is Lowtrow Cross Inn at the gate with local cask beers and excellent food.

Lowtrow Cross is well situated for walking, cycling, riding and fishing in the beautiful Exmoor countryside with its wide variety of wildlife. Close by Haddon Moor, with its own herd of ponies and buzzards overhead, overlooks Wimbleball Lake where one can enjoy a variety of water based activities and nature trails. Clatworthy Reservoir is also convenient for walking and fishing, but dogs are not permitted here. Not far away are Dunkery Beacon, Tarr Steps, Dunster Castle, Porlock and Minehead with the West Somerset Steam railway. The area is well known for its cider and there is a museum of cider-making at Taunton.

Well equipped, heated toilet block but no facilities for disabled visitors. Excellent laundry room. Freezer and microwave. Motorhome services. Small shop in reception selling basic foodstuffs; milk, bread, free range eggs, frozen meals, local produce, toiletries and Calor gas. Maps for sale and book exchange. Free WiFi over site.
