Alan Rogers Review

Overlooking mountains and sea, Llanystumdwy is one of the earliest Camping and Caravanning Club sites. It is an attractive, sloping site with well manicured grass areas surrounded by trees and with good facilities. The wardens are very helpful and know their site and can advise on the most suitable pitch and even have a supply of chocks. There are 70 pitches in total (20 ft. spacing), 45 with 10A electricity connections, spaced over two hedged fields with mainly caravans in the top field with four hardstandings for motorcaravans, while tents are sited lower down (some road noise can be heard here). Most pitches are sloping, so chocks are recommended. A small library with a supply of tourist information is next to the small reception.

A shop and pub are in the village and a bus leaves every hour from outside the site to Pwllheli or Porthmadog. This is a good base from which to explore the Lleyn peninsula or Snowdonia National Park. Portmeirion with its Italianate village is near.

A purpose built toilet block to one side includes excellent, full facilities for disabled visitors including access ramp, one washbasin each in a cubicle for male and female and extra large sinks. Facilities for babies. Laundry (taps with fitting for disabled campers). Gas supplies. WiFi over site (charged).
