Alan Rogers Review
Arranged on a series of spacious, grassy meadows, each surrounded by attractive trees, La Bailloterie is a long-established Guernsey campsite run by friendly and welcoming owners, Richard and Caryl. It is a very peaceful setting down a narrow, rural lane but is just minutes from the shops and services of the Vale and the beach. Said to take around 100 tents or motorhomes, there is always plenty of room and 20 electricity connections are available (16A). Choose your own pitch. Also provided are hire tents and simple log cabins to rent. The site’s amenities are housed in a large, converted granite barn with sanitary facilities on the ground floor and reception, a simple shop and a lounge with a relaxing balcony area where you can enjoy a coffee overlooking the play area.
The barn provides a social centre for the site too, as meals and snacks are served here and barbecues are arranged twice weekly in season. With a good supermarket just three minutes walk away, the site shop is not large, but pre-ordered baguettes, etc. can be delivered to your pitch by bike each morning. A footpath to the nearest beach at Pembroke Bay (10 minutes) and a bus service is in Vale for access to most places of interest on the island.
Sanitary facilities are modern and kept clean. Showers are free. Facilities for disabled visitors. Baby room. Washing machine and drier. Motorhome emptying point. Basic shop, (pre-order bread 7/7-20/8). Coffee lounge and café with TV (seasonal). Takeaway (17/7-20/8). Organised barbecues and meals (twice weekly in high season). Play area. Tea garden and boules pitch. Bicycle hire. WiFi in café area (free). Glamping tents and camping cabins to rent.
