Alan Rogers Review
This welcoming site is in the middle of the bio reserve of the Elbtalaue, an excellent area for walking and cycling. The site provides 225 pitches (142 for tourers), all with a minimum of 6A electricity. Pitching is in long lanes off hard roads on grassy fields (some slightly sloping, some on terraces). There are two fully serviced pitches. To the front of the site are a shop and a large room for activities, where you can also have breakfast. Adjacent to the site are the open-air public pool (free for campers) and tennis courts. Being in a reserve, you will find plenty of information about the local flora and fauna on and around the site, including a special ‘hotel’ for bees.
Close to the site runs the ‘Elberadweg’, with its interesting biking tours through the beautiful countryside; it is also possible to take boating tours on the Elbe river. In Bleckede Castle you can visit the Elbe Underwater World and in the village (1 km) you will find a Greek restaurant serving good value meals.
Three toilet blocks (one central and refurbished to a high standard) with controllable hot showers, facilities for children and accessible sanitary facilities and a baby room. Laundry. Kitchen. Kiosk for basics. Bar/snack bar (breakfast to order). Sauna. Boules. Playground. Playing field. Bicycle hire. WiFi (on payment).
From Lüneburg, follow 216 east, then turn north towards Bleckede. After a few kilometres, turn right towards Alt Garge and site. Site is signed in the village.Link to campsite location map on google
