Huttopia sites are rather different; when the French owners visited Canada and experienced ‘back to nature’ camping, they were so impressed that they decided to introduce the idea to France.
This is a bit like camping as it used to be, but with some big differences. Gone are the formal pitches with neatly trimmed hedges, and instead, 125 of varying sizes are arranged informally amongst the trees, 93 with electricity (10A). The terrain is as nature intended, with very little grass and much of it steep and rugged. Long electricity leads are required and be prepared to use blocks, and corner steadies on many pitches.
Most pitches have good shade. All the site buildings are designed and built to fit into the natural concept. Attractive wooden huts, cahuttes, tents and Romany-style caravans can be rented. This is a different but popular site that will suit campers who, while still wanting their creature comforts, would like to be in more natural surroundings.
Facilities at Huttopia Versailles
Three well-designed toilet blocks (wood cabin style – one is closed in low season) are evenly situated around the site and provide basic facilities, including those for children and accessible facilities. Laundry. Motorhome services. Special bivouacs are set up for cooking and washing up. Restaurant with takeaway (July/August and weekends). Bar (all season). No shop but a supermarket nearby, and essentials can be purchased from reception. Games room. Heated outdoor swimming and paddling pools (seasonal). Playground. Bicycle hire. Boules. No charcoal barbecues.
