Alan Rogers Review
A delightful rural park on the edge of Exmoor, Greenacres is managed and run alongside, but separately from, the farm owned by the family. Drive through the farm access to the park (clearly signed) – you will need to go back and call at the house to book in. No tents are taken. The site has 30 very large, well drained pitches (all with 16A electricity) with connecting gravel paths to the road. The top area is level, the lower part next to the beech woods provides six pitches on hardstanding and some are separated by low hedging. There are marvellous views outside the beech hedge that shelters the site.
To the west of Exmoor, the park is very suitable for the coast at Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, or for exploring the moor. There is a woodland walk through newly planted trees and across the fields to a secluded valley picnic area beside a stream to take advantage of the wonderful views and surroundings. The West Country cycle way passes within a mile of the park and the area is the setting for the classic novel, ‘Lorna Doone’.
The neat, clean toilet block with showers (20p). Units for disabled visitors. Laundry facilities. Area for children with football and volleyball nets. Two-acre dog exercise field. Tourist information.
From North Devon link road A361 (M5, exit 27) turn north at South Molton onto A399. Continue for 9 miles, past turning for Exmoor Steam Centre and on to Stowford Cross. Turn left towards Exmoor Zoological Park and Greenacres Farm is on the left.Link to campsite location map on google
