Alan Rogers Review

Greenacres is a rural site in the Somerset countryside for tents, trailer tents and small motorcaravans only. Hidden away below the Mendips and almost at the start of the Levels, it is a simple green site – a true haven of peace and quiet. The grass is neatly trimmed over the 4.5 acres and hedged with mature trees, though there is a view of Glastonbury Tor in one direction and of Barrow Hill in the other. All of the 40 pitches are around the perimeter of the park, leaving a central area safe for children to play.

At the south side of the site, 13 pitches with 10A electricity are ideal for birdwatchers and those without children. There are now six pitches on the north part of the site with electricity (10A). Wildlife abounds. There are many nearby attractions should you tire of the peace and quiet, such as Wookey Hole, Cheddar Caves and Gorge, Longleat, the beautiful small city of Wells (with leisure centre), Clarks Village, etc. You can cycle into both Wells and Glastonbury using Sustrans Route 3. Free maps of three short cycle routes are available.

The central wooden toilet block is kept very clean and includes facilities for children. Small shop with essentials and a van calls in high season with local produce. Play equipment, football, badminton net, table tennis and play house. Crafts/entertainment for children (high season and busy weekends). Gloworm safaris (summer evenings). The park office (and bicycle hire), is across the lane. Cabin with fridges and freezers for campers’ use (free), library and tourist information. WiFi (charged). Dogs are not accepted.
