Alan Rogers Review

Golden Cap, named after the adjacent high cliff (the highest in southern England) which overlooks Lyme Bay, is only 150 m. from a shingle beach at Seatown and is surrounded by National Trust countryside and the Heritage Coastline. The park is arranged over several fields on the valley floor, sloping gently down towards the sea. It is in two main areas, having once been two parks, each separated into fields with marvellous panoramic views and providing 108 touring pitches. All have electricity and 30 also have hardstanding with drainage and gravel awning area. An extra sloping tent area with 159 pitches is used for peak season (torch useful), although it is a five minute walk from here to the toilet blocks and shop.

There are 219 caravan holiday homes in their own areas. A small but attractive lake is used for coarse fishing and the heated indoor pool and gym at Highlands End (under the same ownership, three miles away) is open for campers at Golden Cap on payment. Beaches are nearby, sea fishing, boat launching, riding or fossil hunting are possible in the area, plus good walks including access to the coastal path.

The modern toilet block is of good quality with spacious shower cubicles (some with toilet and washbasin). Facilities for disabled visitors. Baby room. Two other smaller blocks around the park. Laundry room. Motorcaravan services. Useful and well stocked shop. Takeaway (1/7-6/9). Gas supplies. Small play area. Coarse fishing lake (day tickets from shop). American motorhomes are not accepted. WiFi throughout (charged). Camping pods to rent.
