Close to the impressive Château de Montreuil-Bellay, Camping les Nobis is part of the Flower group of campsites and occupies a quiet location on the bank of the River Thouet, yet is conveniently located for visits to Saumur and the many other châteaux of the western Loire Valley. There are 120 pitches, 33 occupied by mobile homes and ‘Kiwi’ tents; the 87 touring pitches have electrical connections (10A). A short walk takes you to the château built in the 15th century but whose history goes back to the Plantagenet Kings and from there you can stroll through the narrow streets of the historic town.
The château is well worth a visit; as well as walking along the ramparts and visiting the furnished interior and vaulted cellars, you may sample some of the wines produced by Château Montreuil-Bellay. Nearby are the mushroom cellars of Puy Notre Dame and the troglodyte dwellings and roses of Doué-la-Fontaine. Saumur is home to the famous National Riding School. The wonderful Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud is also within easy reach.

Location
Montreuil-Bellay is 16 km. south of Saumur via D347. At roundabout north of town turn south to cross river and follow signs to site to south west below château. (NB narrow road on right immediately after bridge is not suitable for motorhomes or if towing.)
