Alan Rogers Review
This pleasant site, reserved for motorcaravans and caravans, is well situated on the outskirts of the charming country town of Dulverton, alongside the River Barle. It is professionally run and all facilities are maintained to a very high standard. The site is well landscaped with tarmac roads and a choice of 67 pitches, 53 on gravel hardstandings. They are quite small but certainly not cramped. All have 16A electricity hook-ups, and eight are fully serviced. Walls and hedges divide the site into smaller areas. It is ideal for those who simply want to relax and enjoy the birdsong, but there are numerous opportunities for an adventurous stay, with canoeing and kayaking on the doorstep and sailing and fishing at Wimbleball Lake, just five miles away.
Dulverton, a couple of minutes’ walk away (no need to use the pay-and-display car park), has a surprisingly good selection of independent shops and services. There is a range of food shops, some selling produce from the local farms. Dog owners are welcome at Exmoor House and all the local pubs and restaurants accept dogs. The ‘get to know your site’ leaflet, given to all new arrivals, contains all the information required about the site and how to make the most of the surrounding area.
The single heated sanitary block has good modern showers and washing cubicles. Indoor dishwashing area and a well equipped laundry. Facilities for disabled visitors. Motorcaravan services. Shop. No play area and no ball games allowed, but a small park is nearby. WiFi over site (charged).
