Alan Rogers Review
UPDATE: Since our previous visit we have received a number of reports that the site is now mainly given over to permanent accommodation. We have also heard that the quality and care for the site which we had previously noted was lacking, particularly in regards to the facilities. A small number of touring pitches are still available, but these are situated on sloping pitches and tend to be of poor quality. The nearby town of Covarrubias remains an attraction; therefore we are continuing to show the campsite on our website however we currently recommend using alternative sites in the area.
PREVIOUS REPORT: This and peaceful site is surrounded by wooded hills of the Sierra de Covarrubias and is on a gentle slope (levelling chocks would be useful). Approaching from the south, the scenery through the limestone valleys is spectacular. There is considerable manoeuvring space and the 136 numbered pitches are of a reasonable size, with electricity (5A) but generally without shade. The restaurant, off the bar, is pleasant with a reasonable menu; the bar has a large patio on the poolside. There is much to see in the pretty town of Covarrubias and we would suggest a visit to the Casa de Doña San and the ruins of San Pedro de Arlanza.
The sanitary block is beging to show signs of it's age. The pool side of the block has changing rooms. Washing machine (Free) On pitch electricity can be hit and miss!
