Alan Rogers Review

This neat little park, which opened for its first full season in 2006, is on level ground and located close to the M5 motorway. There are 49 pitches, all with 10A electricity, of which 25 are on gravel hardstanding. Most pitches are accessed from a gravel road (one-way system) with plenty of fresh water taps, site lighting and some picnic tables. A separate area for tents is close to the toilet block. Light power cables cross the site and there is some background motorway noise. Maximum length for motorcaravans is 30 ft, unless by prior arrangement with the wardens. With its old apple trees this park makes a very pleasant stopover.

Off to the left are the barns that house the Van Bitz workshops producing security systems for motorcaravans along with accessories for both motorcaravans and caravans. The centrally situated, modern toilet block is maintained to a high standard and includes underfloor heating, designed by the owners who are campers and caravanners themselves. There are no other facilities on the park but a cycle path and a footpath will take you into the town centre, just two miles away. Taunton, the county town of Somerset, is worth a visit with its Castle, museum, a variety of livestock and produce markets and an annual flower show. The park is also a good base from which to visit the Somerset County Cricket ground, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, and Clarke’s shopping village at Street.

One central block has underfloor heating and modern fittings and you can listen to the local radio. Large, dual-purpose room providing facilities for disabled visitors and small children. Dusk to dawn low energy lighting. Laundry room. Motorcaravan services. Camping supplies for sale and plenty of tourist information available. Calor Gas bottle exchange. Free WiFi.
