Alan Rogers Review
This tranquil park is in beautiful Wensleydale and the emphasis is on peace and quiet, the wardens working to provide a relaxing environment. Being in the grounds of the Hall, it has a spacious, park-like feel to it. On part level, and some a little uneven, well maintained grass, the 120 pitches (40 for touring units) are of a good size and all have 10A electrical connections. There are no pitches for tents. There is no shop on site but milk and newspapers are available to order and nearby Leyburn will provide all your needs. Opposite the park entrance is the Wyvill Arms for bar meals. Ball games are not permitted on site and there is no play area.
The gardens of the Hall are open to the public, with a collection of maples and terraced gardens developed by Mrs Vida Burton. The park is ideally placed for visiting the Northern Dales.
Two toilet blocks built of local stone and blending in with the local surroundings, have been refurbished recently, are well tiled, kept immaculately clean, and can be heated. Facilities for disabled visitors. Baby room. The former deer barn has been adapted for use as a laundry room and extra washrooms with washbasins for both men and women. Information leaflets and a few books for visitors can also be found here. Gas supplies. Gates closed 22.00-08.00. WiFi over site (charged).
