It would be difficult to find a more idyllic and famous spot for a caravan park than Cong. Situated close to the shores of Lough Corrib, Cong’s scenic beauty was immortalised in the film, The Quiet Man. This well kept park is 1.6 km. from the village of Cong, near the grounds of the magnificent and renowned Ashford Castle. Reception, shop and the hostel, stand to the fore of the site. Toilet facilities and the holiday hostel accommodation are entered from the courtyard area. The 40 grass touring pitches, 36 with electricity, are placed at a higher level to the rear, with the sheltered tent areas below and to the side. The park can be crowded and busy in high season.
When not spending time around the village of Cong with its picturesque river setting and monastic relics, there is much to keep the active camper happy. Watersports, cycling, walking, climbing, caving and scenic drives can all be pursued. Not least of the on-site attractions at this park is a mini cinema showing The Quiet Man film nightly all season and associated museum guided tours can be arranged. The park also offers glamping accommodation.
