Alan Rogers Review

Mendip Heights is a Camping and Caravanning Club site, but non-members are welcome. It is a well kept park half a mile from the village. There are picturesque views across the Mendip fields with their characteristic dry stone walling. It has a simple charm with field margins kept natural to encourage wildlife, and nest boxes in the mature trees edging the three fields that make up the site. These provide space for 90 units, some on slightly sloping short grass, with 76 electric hook-ups (16A), 37 with hardstanding. Historic Priddy is the highest village in the Mendips and is famed for its annual Sheep Fair in August and a popular folk festival in July.

Nearby are extensive Roman lead-workings, Bronze Age burial mounds, the Priddy Circle and access to Swildons Hole, one of the popular cave systems in the Mendips. The park is also on the Padstow-Bristol Sustrans Route 3. Many tourist attractions are within a 20 mile radius.

The refurbished toilet block with all facilities is bright, cheerful and heated. Two family rooms (one with high and low toilet and shower). Facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry facilities. Motorcaravan services. The reception/licensed shop doubles as the village shop (open all season selling locally produced meat, cheese, groceries, Calor gas, etc). Fresh bread and pastries are baked each morning (pre-order). Play house, swings and table tennis for children. Torches useful. WiFi throughout (charged).
