Alan Rogers Review
Camping WeidumerHout is a member of the Karaktervolle Groene Campings group, literally ‘characterful green campsites’. It has a superb rural location, close to the historic village of Weidum. There are 48 well spaced pitches (150 sq.m) with 10A electricity and two with hardstanding. The owner makes sure that all visitors can enjoy the great views over either the countryside or the river that runs past the site. The site has been developed on a farm that dates back to 1867 and has a tranquil, historic atmosphere. The site’s fully equipped sauna (on payment) will add to your relaxation – owner Eddy de Boer will describe the benefits of a good sauna.
The campsite is combined with a comfortable hotel and welcoming, stylish restaurant. Try one of the daily, high quality meals created with local produce, maybe washed down with a glass of Us Heit Frisian beer. The site has its own water purifying system and tries to operate in an environmentally friendly way. The River Zwette running past the site is part of the famous 11 city skating tour and you are more than welcome to bring a boat.
Heated sanitary block with toilets, showers and washbasins. Baby room. Washing machine and dryer. Bar and restaurant (all year). Sauna. Solarium. Library. Bicycle hire. Beach access plus fishing and boat launching. Canoe hire. WiFi throughout (free). Fitness equipment. Torch useful.
