Alan Rogers Review
Camping Urbasa is a well maintained smart site situated within the Urbasa National Park, Europe’s largest beech forest, west of Pamplona. There are two large areas for tents, plus 60 pitches for caravans and motorhomes with electrical connections, of a good size, grassy and are surrounded by beech trees. Around 100 attractive natural timber chalets are available to rent. There is also a hostel with good accommodation for walkers or cyclists. The site boasts a good restaurant, specializing in Basque–Navarra cuisine. Leisure facilities here include horse riding, and accompanied excursions on horseback are organized. This is a good location for an active holiday and there are numerous opportunities for walking and mountain biking trips.
The source of the River Urederra is a particularly popular excursion. There is a connected series of pools and waterfalls, where the water is a wonderful luminescent blue. The great Cistercian monastery of St Mary at Iranzu also merits a visit. The monastery dates back to the 12th century and is a wonderful haven of tranquility.
Heated sanitary facilities. Motorhome service point. Shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway (all season). Children’s playground. Riding. Bicycle hire. Chalets to rent. Accompanied walks and riding excursions. WiFi throughout (free).
