Alan Rogers Review

Camping Tiber is an excellent city site with extensive facilities and also caters for backpackers. Although a lively site, the thoughtful layout and the division of different areas with flowering shrubs makes it surprisingly peaceful. It is ideally located for visiting Rome with a shuttle bus every 30 minutes to the station and then an easy train service to Rome (20 minutes), with trams operating late at night. The 350 touring pitches (with electricity) are mostly shaded under very tall trees and many have very pleasant views over the River Tiber. This mighty river winds around two sides of the site boundary (safely fenced) providing a cooling effect for campers and it is possible to fish for carp.

There is a new section with some shade, and bungalows to rent are in a separate area. A small but pleasant outdoor pool with a bar awaits after a busy day in the city. The excellent main bar, beer garden and restaurant all have terraces and, along with the takeaway, give good value. The site is extremely well run with friendly and helpful staff and especially good for campers with disabilities.

Fully equipped, very smart sanitary facilities include hot water everywhere, private cabins, a baby room and very good facilities for disabled campers. Laundry facilities. Motorcaravan services. Shop. Bar, restaurant, pizzeria and takeaway. Swimming pool (May-end Sept, hat required) and bar. Carp fishing in river. Play area. Shuttle bus (on payment) to the underground station every 15 or 30 minutes according to season. Torches useful. WiFi on part of site (charged).
