Alan Rogers Review
Tucked away in a quiet wooded valley beside a stream, this small family run site, just to the south of Monschau in the North Eifel, is easily accessible and an ideal touring base. The site has 75 grass touring pitches with 16A electricity connections and is divided into two parts by the stream. The upper part is terraced in places, with the remaining pitches bordering the stream. The lower part, an open meadow used mainly for tents, is reached by crossing a low wooden bridge. The town of Monschau, with almost 250 houses from the Middle Ages under a protection order, is understandably one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region.
From the site, the town can easily be reached by foot in 15-30 minutes via one of two paths, one following the valley, the other the crossing the hill. The hill path, passing through woods, is quite steep in places with a loose surface but is good exercise and offers better views of the area. This is a region with many picturesque towns and villages from the Middle Ages, and lots walks and cycle rides along forest tracks. During the main tourist season it can become quite full, therefore when possible; visits should be planned during the low season.
Modern, well maintained heated sanitary blocks have free hot water. Four family rooms with WC, shower and washbasin to rent. Laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Motorcaravan services (key at reception). Small shop (bread to order). Bar/restaurant with wide variety of dishes. Small swimming and paddling pools (1/6-30/9). Play area.
