Alan Rogers Review

A typical municipal site, although now leased to a French/English couple who live on site. Les Prés has 136 grassy pitches and a fair number of long stay units. However, there are usually around 35 pitches available for touring units, all with 5A electricity hook-ups. The town of Grez-sur-Loing dates back to medieval times and is well worth investigating. The site makes an ideal base for fishing, cycling (the warden can provide a booklet with five suggested routes – in French, of course), walking and rock climbing in Fontainebleau.

A two-storey building has separate, unheated, male and female facilities on the upper level and unisex facilities at ground level. British and Turkish style toilets. Laundry facilities. Excellent suite for disabled visitors in a separate building. Children’s cubicle. Very small shop. Takeaway (pizza and panini, 15/3-11/11, Sat, Sun and B.Hs). Sauna. Play area. Fishing lake. WiFi (charged).

Grez-sur-Loing is just off D607 south of Fontainebleau. From both directions turn east at roundabout north of town towards Montcourt, cross river bridge and almost immediately turn right (signed). Note: site access road is one-way. From south, ignore campsite signs south of village as roads are very narrow.
