Alan Rogers Review
This campsite is permanently closed.
This is an attractive site convenient for a night stop close to the RN2 road or for longer stays if touring in the area. It is a neat and tidy municipal site with 91 marked pitches of fair size. Mainly on slightly sloping ground and separated by trim hedges, most have 6/10A electrical connections and some have hardstanding. A variety of broad-leaved trees provide shade. Reception staff are friendly and helpful and live on the site. Although there are few amenities on the site, the interesting town centre of Maubeuge itself is only about 1 km. away.
The town’s historic ramparts are well worth a visit, as is the town itself. Nearby is the WW1 town of Mons, other WW1 related villages and memorials, the Belgian border and the village of Maroilles (cheese). Mauberge also has a small children’s zoo.
Site is on the RN2 road (the N6 in Belgium) north of the town, on the right going towards Mons.
