Camping L’Ile Madame is located on the calm and green banks of the river Charente in the heart of the Charente vineyards, between Cognac and Angoulême. The site is on the edge of Jarnac which is often referred to as the second capital city of Cognac. It is the perfect place to rest. Many activities and facilities are available in the area including a swimming pool, hiking, Cognac tasting and cultural visits. Jarnac is also the birth town of former French president François Mitterrand and is in the heart of the vineyard where Cognac, Pineau and Charente wines are produced. As a little extra bonus, guests also have free access to the public leisure centre next door, which has two heated pools and a grass terrace. Games are on hand to keep the children busy, and the excellently placed park is also on the Charente River for swims and boat-based messing about. Take some time to rest and enjoy the numerous activities offered in the area. The site has 85 touring pitches (some seasonal) and 16 mobile homes or cottages available to hire.
The site is 20 minutes’ drive from Cognac and a 10-minute walk from the centre of Jarnac which has restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Adults can get their cultural kicks wandering about this historic aera, dipping in and out of shops selling artisanal chocolate and an array of vineyards and cellar doors often set in handsome 18th-century homes where Cognac and Charentais wines are created and sold. For architectural aficionados on tour, there are lots of small villages along the Charente that are worth seeking out, and it's also worth checking out the abbeys of Saint Etienne of Bassac and Châtres, both around 10 minutes’ drive away.
The toilet block has showers, washbasins and wc’s. Facility for guests who are disabled. Laundry. Motorhome service point. Wi-Fi free. Children’s play area. Dogs and BBQ’s allowed. Boules area. Shop, bar and restaurant nearby.
