Alan Rogers Review
Les Peupliers is a large, rural campsite situated close to the town of Vogüé. There are 100 pitches, 78 for touring units, and these are of a good size and well spaced out. Large, established trees offer plenty of shade to most pitches but some are in full sun. Direct river access at the lower parts of the site means on-site fishing, canoeing and river swimming. The site has two large outdoor pools and a snack bar offering a limited menu. Long electricity (16A) leads may be required. This site would make a good base for exploring the local region. Limited English is spoken.
The nearby town of Vogüé is a tiny but atmospheric village with its 12th-century château which was once the seat of the Barons of Languedoc. Rebuilt in the 17th Century it has a museum featuring exhibitions about the region. The site offers a motorcaravan service area for a small charge without having to stay overnight.
Three dated but clean sanitary blocks. Laundry room. Motorcaravan services. Bar and snack service. Small open shop. Bread to order. Two outdoor heated swimming pools. Pétanque. Play area. Fishing. Wooded jogging circuit. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted.
