Camping les Ecureuils

Camping Les Ecureuils is a friendly site of 100 pitches located close to the centre of the popular resort of Mimizan. The nearest sandy beaches lie around 7 km. distant. The 70 touring pitches are of average size with limited shade from immature trees, and some with 6A electricity. A few mobile homes and chalets are available to rent. There is an attractive swimming pool with a paddling pool adjacent. Other amenities include a snack bar and small bar. These are available during the high season (July/August). Given the site’s forest location, individual barbecues are not permitted but communal barbecues are provided.

Cycling is very popular in the area and there are many miles of excellent tracks through the forest (the nearest tracks can be accessed 1 km. from Les Ecureuils). Mimizan also has an attractive nine-hole golf course. To the north, the Dune de Pyla is Europe’s highest sand dune and there are some fine sandy beaches in its vicinity.

Small toilet block with accessible facilities , but not for children. Showers and British style WCs in cubicles, but not washbasins. Washing machine, but no dryer. Small bar/snack bar. Takeaway. Shop. Swimming pool. Paddling pool. Themed evenings (high season). Play area. WiFi (charged). Security barrier. Mobile homes and chalets to rent.

Location

Approaching from the north (Bordeaux, 110 km) take A63 towards Bayonne. Leave at exit 16 (Labouheyre). Follow signs to Mimizan. On arrival in Mimizan follow campsite signs towards Bayonne/Dax on D652 for 2 km. then site is signed on right. Beware speed humps as you leave the village.
