Camping les Catalpas is a member of the Tohapi group and is located close to the Gironde estuary at Saint Georges-de-Didonne. Pitches are grassy and there is a choice between sunny and more shady options. A number of chalets are available to rent. On-site amenities include a swimming pool, children’s paddling pool, a small shop and a snack bar. A large supermarket is just three minutes walk from the site. There are also some excellent beaches within a few minutes walk of the site, and Saint Georges has all the amenities one would expect of a well established holiday resort.
A little to the north, Royan is a stylish modern resort with a striking modern cathedral and many excellent seafood restaurants. Further along the coast, La Palmyre is also deservedly popular with a fine beach and a fine zoo, arguably the best loved in France. Beaches to the south of Saint Georges tend to be quieter, and the Plage de Suzac and Plage de Vergnes are particularly attractive.
Facilities
Two modern sanitary blocks with good facilities for disabled visitors and babies. Washing machines and dryers. Snack bar, pizzeria and bar (all season). Shop. Heated swimming pool with paddling pool. Games room with pool and electronic games. Pétanque. TV room. Internet access. Entertainment in July/Aug. Gas barbecues only on pitches. Chalets to rent.
Location
From Royan take the southbound coast road (D25) to St Georges de Didonne. The site is located in parkland close to the Avenue d’Aquitaine and is well signed.
