Alan Rogers Review
Camping les Castors provides a convenient starting point from which to explore Alsace. It is close to the Vosges mountains which are dominated by the Ballon d’Alsace (1,427 m). This well cared for site with its stream and small lake offers 135 pitches with electricity (10A). Most are of a reasonable size and some have some shade. Fishing is possible in the lake and the site is on the banks of the river. Bicycles can be hired and there are walks in the adjacent forest and the surrounding countryside. The small village of Burnhaupt-le-Haut is within 1.5 km. and has a supermarket, ATM and pharmacy.
Within easy reach are several museums and historic towns. In the nearest town of Masevaux you can see examples of houses built in the traditional style of the region.
A new sanitary block offers modern facilities with hot showers and washbasins in cubicles. Facilities for babies and disabled visitors. Laundry facilities. Attractive restaurant and bar with terrace serving traditional local food. Takeaway. Bread can be ordered from reception. Small play area. Fishing. Bicycle hire. WiFi on the terrace (charged).
