Alan Rogers Review

On the banks of the Moselle river, at the foot of the medieval village of Liverdun, this grassy site offers 193 level pitches, 175 for touring, all with 6A electricity. A variety of trees, planted in rows, provide some shade and gives the appearance of an orchard. A gate leads out onto the quiet road running along the grassy, tree-lined bank of the river, which offers opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing and various boating activities. The hill-top village of Liverdun is within walking distance and although it provides a few restaurants and shops and a small supermarket, it is not picturesque. This site is probably more suitable as a stopover, although the swimming pool and opportunities for fishing, cycling and walking may attract visitors for longer. Expect some train noise.

The busy city of Nancy is easily reached by car or bus. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, at the heart of which is the impressive Place Stanislas; the Art Nouveau movement flourished here and a number of museums record this period. Other outings could include historic Toul, the ancient city of Metz, and Verdun, now home of the World Centre for Peace. In contrast, the nearby forest of La Haye provides opportunities for relaxation and exploration on foot, by bicycle or by boat.

Two rather dated but clean sanitary blocks include a baby room and facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machine. Small shop for essentials. Bar, snack bar and bread to order. Outdoor swimming pool (July/Aug). Tennis. Area for ball games. Pétanque. Volleyball. Bicycle hire (including one for disabled campers). Charcoal barbecues are not accepted. WiFi (charged).
