Alan Rogers Review
Les Baumelles is a deceptively large site with camping arranged over four distinct areas. The site has 360 pitches for touring and a small number of mobile homes to rent. The front and rear of the site are relatively flat with a steeply terraced middle area. All pitches have some shade and vary greatly in size. Larger units may have difficulty traversing the site due to the terracing and twin-axle caravans over 5.5 m. are not accepted. Located in a bay between two small, pretty towns, it is only 50 m. to the large white sandy beach. The nearby towns of Les Lecques and La Mandrague both offer a good choice of restaurants and bars.
The site also has a small restaurant and bar offering a limited menu and a shop which sells local fresh produce. There are large supermarkets within 2 km. Watersports are available at the beach including sailing, scuba diving, windsurfing and sea kayaking. During July and August, a ‘petit locomotive’ runs along the coast. At 10 km. away, the town of Cassis is worth visiting for its large white cliffs and lovely hidden creeks.
Four large sanitary blocks are well spaced throughout the site. Facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry area. Small shop. Bar/restaurant and takeaway. Small play area. Pétanque. Animation for children (July/Aug). Barbecues are not allowed.
