This spacious, well maintained campsite with 75 larger than average, level pitches is slightly out of the normal tourist areas, but ideal for a quiet break. The pitches are separated by small hedges and with various specimen trees including acers, catalpas and ‘mushroom’ trees. All pitches have water and electricity (6/10/16A). This is a family run site and the friendly new owners speak some English. It borders La Dronne river for fishing and is next to a swimming pool with diving board. There is a small, very reasonable restaurant and shop on site, and the town of Les Eglisottes is a ten minute walk. Located 50 km. to the north east of Bordeaux, this site is good for a break of journey but you may be tempted to stay a little longer to soak up the tranquil atmosphere of the slow flowing river.
Much wildlife can be spotted in the adjoining fields and on the river bank. It is possible to visit Bordeaux and Angouleme by train (station 500 m, two trains daily) for shopping and sightseeing without parking difficulties. There is a bus service to Coutras. In the evenings, low level entertainment includes karaoke and boules competitions.
