Alan Rogers Review
The Drôme Provençale is a magnificent region of lavender fields, ancient farming villages and fine local cuisine. Camping le Pilat is close to the little village of Saint Ferréol. The site is based around a Provençal farmhouse (mas)that now accommodates most of the main amenities. There are 74 touring pitches, all with 6A electricity and with good shade. Some have fine views of the surrounding lavender fields and the mountains beyond. There is an attractive swimming pool (covered in the low season) with water slides, as well as a separate children’s pool. The River Bentrix flows past the site – ideal for small dinghies. This is a very good area for walking and mountain biking. The site owners, Viviane and Joël Clément, will be delighted to recommend different routes, as well as the many other places of interest nearby, including Mont Ventoux, Vaison-la-Romaine and Nyons.

Children’s pool. Play area. Small shop. Snack bar/takeaway (1/6-15/9). Fresh bread (from 1/5). Weekly pétanque competitions, festive evening and guided walk. Mobile homes to rent. Communal barbecue. From Nyons, head north on the D94 along the Gorges de l’Eygues. At La Bonté join the northbound D70 as far as St Ferréol-Trente Pas. The site is well signed from here.
