Alan Rogers Review

Le Merle Roux is a recent addition to the FranceLoc group and is located within easy access of the A7 autoroute, and at the foot of the Ardèche mountains. The terraced site extends over 16 hectares and has 199 pitches of varying shapes and sizes. They are mostly equipped with electricity (6A) and many enjoy magnificent views over the Rhône Valley. A number of fully equipped mobile homes are available to rent. On-site amenities include a large swimming pool with a large water slide and a bar. With uneven paths and unfenced slopes, this is not a suitable site for people with mobility problems, and torches are a must at night.

This region is, of course, well known for walking and cycling, and the reception staff will be able to recommend routes (there is an information centre at reception). Canoeing is also understandably popular in the area. The attractive city of Valence is located to the north and has a good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. The cathedral of Saint Apollinaris dates back to the 11th century and has a monument to Pius VI, who died in the city.
