The Loire valley features on UNESCO’s World Heritage list and this all year site, close to Amboise, is very well placed for exploring the region. It has a choice of 54 shaded or sunny touring pitches. These are of a good size and most have electricity (10A). A number of mobile homes are available to rent. Leisure facilities include a covered swimming pool, and swimming lessons are available with a qualified coach. A good restaurant, Auberge de Launay, can be found just 20 m. from the site. There is some road noise from the adjacent D952.
Amboise is one of the most interesting towns along this stretch of the Loire. It is best known for its magnificent 15th-century château, which dominates the town, and also for the manor of Clos Lucé, the house where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years; this now houses a fascinating museum dedicated to his life and work. There are many other first class châteaux within easy reach, including Chaumont, Chenonceaux and Chambord.
