Le Grand Bleu is a chalet park (parc résidentiel de loisirs) located south of Rochefort. It is based around an attractive lake. Please note that there are no touring pitches at this site, nor are there any chalets to rent. The park provides spacious pitches for chalet installation (minimum size 220 sq.m). Owners benefit from a range of amenities including a swimming pool, a multisports pitch and a well stocked fishing lake (carp, pike, black bass). Windsurfing and canoeing are also possible on the lake, which has a beach area, and there are a numbers of pedaloes for hire.
The nearest sandy beaches are at Royan to the south (20 minutes drive). The park is also well located for trips to the Côte Sauvage and its vast forest, the oyster farms of Marennes and Oléron, and pretty fishing villages such as Mornac and La Tremblade. The Romanesque churches of the Saintonge richly merit exploration, as do the fine Roman city of Saintes, to the east, and the important naval town of Rochefort, to the north.
