Alan Rogers Review

Le Capeyrou is an excellent and very well maintained site. It is situated by the River Dordogne, within easy walking distance of the picturesque château village of Beynac. The friendly Dutch and French owners pride themselves on maintaining the traditions of a true camping site, but with the benefits of modern facilities. Most of the 120 level pitches have good views of the hilltop château, and all have access to electricity (6/10A, mainly Europlug). Four fully equipped tents are available for hire.

The village of Beynac et Cazenac can be reached on foot along the riverside footpath. Its steep, cobbled streets lead up to the clifftop Château de Beynac. Once there, the views along the Dordogne valley are stunning. On a hot day, ask at reception for directions to the hidden footpath via the troglodyte caves. Barge trips are available on the river in replicas of the original trading boats, and fishing and swimming are possible from a beach 200 m. from the site. The immediate area has many historic sites, perhaps the best known being the painted caves at Lascaux.

Two high quality and very clean toilet blocks are well equipped with a mixture of preset and controllable showers, some washbasins in cabins, baby room and facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry room. Motorcaravan service point. Fridge hire. Bar. Heated swimming pool and paddling pool. TV room for major events only. Play areas. Direct river access. Fishing. WiFi (free).
