L’Abri des Pins is situated on the outskirts of Saint Jean-de-Monts and is separated from the sea and a long sandy beach by a strip of pine forest. The site has 218 pitches, 30 of which are for touring units, most with electricity and water; they are separated by hedges and most have shade. Seventy pitches have mobile homes and chalets for rent, the rest being occupied by privately owned mobiles. It has an impressive entrance and good leisure facilities, which include a modern indoor pool and unusual children’s pool. The sanitary blocks are modern and clean. From the site, it is a pleasant 15-minute walk to the beach.

Bathing is said to be safer here than on most of the beaches on this coast, but is nevertheless supervised in July/August. Throughout the season visitors may use the facilities at Les Places Dorées (under the same family ownership) across the road. Saint Jean is a thriving resort with a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants, several supermarkets and daily markets in high season. In July and August, there is a shuttle bus service along the main road in front of the site through Saint Jean to the attractive fishing port and resort of Saint Gilles Croix-de-Vie. A gentle drive up the coast takes you to the pleasant Ile de Noirmoutier (reached by a bridge). A boat trip to the peaceful Ile d’Yeu is another popular outing, but the choice of activities and tourist attractions in the area is seemingly endless.

Facilities at Camping l’Abri des Pins

The two traditional sanitary blocks are modern and clean. Washbasins in cabins, preset showers, basic facilities for babies and accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Snack bar (July/Aug) provides good quality, value for money meals, both to eat in and take away. Heated indoor and outdoor pools, water slide, new pool for children and decked sunbathing area. Sauna and steam room. Gym equipment. Daily children’s club plus activities and entertainment for teenagers and the whole family (July/Aug). Play area. Games rooms for all and for under-5s. Tennis court. Pétanque. Bicycle hire arranged. WiFi over site (charged).

St Jean-de-Monts is 55 km. northwest of La Roche-sur-Yon. Site is 4 km. north of town centre on western side of D38 Notre Dame-de-Monts road, almost opposite Les Places Dorées.
