Alan Rogers Review
Set on a terraced hillside overlooking the sea on the northeast coast of Elba, La Sorgente is a compact, pine-clad campsite offering peace and tranquillity in natural surroundings. The views from much of the site are stunning. There are 70 pitches available for touring with 4A electricity and a small number of bungalows to rent. There is direct, fairly steep access down to two pebble beaches with crystal-clear water, popular for snorkelling and scuba diving. Larger units may find access and manoeuvring a challenge. Units over 7 m. are not accepted.
There is little in the way of organised entertainment here. However, a tiny convivial bar/restaurant with a terrace is a pleasant spot for relaxing and meeting new friends. For the more energetic, bicycles are available to use (free of charge) and campsite staff will be pleased to recommend routes for both cycling and hiking. The site is just 6 km. from the island’s capital, Portoferraio.
Sanitary facilities include controllable hot showers and mostly British WCs. Good area for babies. Facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry area. Well stocked shop (from May). Small bar/restaurant. Some takeaway. Playground (no ball games on site). Communal barbecue area with picnic tables. Bicycles to use free of charge. Fridges to rent. Safety deposit boxes. Direct beach access. Torches useful. Free WiFi over site.

From the port of Portoferraio, follow the signs ‘tutti direzione’ and then ‘Enfola – Viticcio’ for approximately 6 km. La Sorgente is clearly signed.
